Lemonade - Big Changes

[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]

Lemonade’s second album, Diver, is a sensual, bold electronic record, swimming ecstatically in the melodies of early 90’s R&B, UK 2-step Garage, Balearic house and NY freestyle. The trio recorded the album over the course of several years in New York. Really like the 90’s influence over the course the album…feel like I should buy a wind breaker now.

elite gymnastics - m i n n e a p o l i s b e l o n g s t o y o u 2

Slow down….Elite Gymnastics have some stuff figured out. Have to say they are becoming a new favorite of mine. Perfect on a warm summer night.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. - Nothing But Our Love

[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]

I remember driving out to Sasquatch last year and It’s A Corporate World had just leaked. It was almost all I listened to for pretty much the entire drive. I was spell bound by their effortless sound. Now it only seems fitting that they’re playing the main stage this year.

Video of them nailing this song at Austin City Limits last year: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2YoYahulVzw

Last half of that performance gives me chills…when he starts effecting his voice with the kaoss pad it’s pure gold.

Yeasayer - "Henrietta"

[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]

Alright, so Yeasayer apparently sent 200 burnt CD’s to randomly selected fans on their mailing list. On the disc was one track entitled Henrietta. Thankfully Yeasayer’s label uploaded a high quality stream yesterday. Favorite track of the year so far. The coda is especially mind blowing.

Usher - Climax (Diplo & Flosstradamus Remix)

[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]

Don’t usually post remixes on here. In fact this might be the first, but it deserves it. Diplo and Flosstradamus have crafted just an incredible take on Usher’s song Climax. The drop at the very end of this is perfection. I think it comes with about 40 seconds left in the track which is not enough. Seriously almost crashed my car when I heard it.

Animal Collective - Honeycomb

[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]

Animal Collective have new album coming out in September entitled Centipede Hz. I’m more than a little excited to see what they do next. The band recently released a couple tracks that will not be featured on the album this fall. Honeycomb has a very upbeat feel to it but it’s also not as polished as their last album…meaning the production is not quite as glossy if that makes any sense. Overall, I really like the two tracks on this 7” but Honeycomb is the standout for sure.

Azealia Banks - Jumanji

[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]

Pretty awesome outside right now. Currently this is my summer jam but I’m sure that’ll change in a couple weeks. Looking forward to Azealia’s EP due shortly.

TV Girl - Mirror Mirror

[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]

I first heard of TV Girl last year or so. I didn’t pay too much attention as they had like two songs released. So when I check out Heems tumblr the other day I notice Greedhead is presenting some new mixtape by the duo. I was curious and downloaded the mixtape. Which by the way, comes with a pdf activity book. Right off the bat I was obsessed with the summery jam vibes these guys pull off. I like it.

My Bloody Valentine - Sometimes

Loveless was recently remastered and all I can say is it sounds incredible. Didn’t think you could add clarity to something so dense. Love this Loveless.

Blue Sky Black Death - To The Ends Of The Earth

[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]

BSBD have found their way into my select batch of artists that I find myself returning to time and time again. Solid sample work along with grooves that dig into your mind.

El-P - True Story

[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]

El-P sampled Das Racist on this track. Took me a second to realize that because I was recovering from the sheer hugeness of the production. The rest of the album, entitled Cancer For The Cure is just as in your face. This is what Tyler Durden would listen to…well this and the Dust Brothers.

Hot Chip - And I Was A Boy From School

[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]

Nothing new here…just one of the most beautiful songs ever written. Hot Chip have a new album coming out this summer, which I’m fairly excited for. Not sure if anything will ever live up to this though.

Lotus Plaza - Monoliths

[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]

Lotus Plaza is the solo project of Deerhunter’s Lockett Pundt. His latest album Spooky Action At A Distance is quickly becoming one of my favorite albums this year. His almost uncanny ability to craft a perfect melody is astounding. After watching Deerhunter play at Sasquatch last year I noticed Lockett never picked his head up from watching his effects board. For nearly the entire set he was lost in a swirl of guitar delay and reverb. This sort of attention to what he’s doing carries over into Spooky Action, and almost lets us know where he’s coming from, almost.

Solar Bears - Cosmic Runner

[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]

Solar Bears have a new album coming out soon…behold, Cosmic Runner. This is actually a nice surprise, if the album is anything like this track it’ll be incredible.

Reptar - Isoprene Bath

[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]

Reptar’s debut album is out May 1st. Entitled Body Faucet, and it does sound like it has the tendency to make you sweat. I’ve already pre-ordered the vinyl for this album after hearing it once.
